Igor Štavlić was born in Požega, Republic of Croatia, in 1973. From the earliest days, he showed a strong interest in nature and the universe, and in the seventh grade of elementary school he participated in the national astronomy competition. After he graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb in 2010, he finished pedagogical and psychological education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. He received his Master's degree from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb in 2012 at postgraduate study programme in Business Finances and obtained the academic title of Master of Science. In 1999, as part of non-formal education, he passed the first and second level of the Reiki technique, and in 2006, the master's degree. He organizes and conducts Reiki courses. In November 2015, he has successfully completed the Curriculum globALE, a modularized and competency-based framework curriculum for adult education educators worldwide, organized by the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education and he has obtained a certificate Trainer in Education. From 1994 to 2019, he worked in the private sector (the field of entrepreneurship and education).
Member of the working group of the national project Implementation of the EU Agenda for Adult Education, which is implemented by the Ministry of Science and Education with the financial assistance of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual Activity and Culture, European Commission. The project was implemented in the period from 2015 to 2017. Member of the delegation of the Republic of Croatia in front of the Ministry of Science and Education, which participated in collaborative learning workshops intended for countries with a low rate of participation of adults in lifelong learning and insufficiently developed programs necessary for the implementation of New Opportunities for Adults. The workshops were organized by the European Commission in 2017 and 2018, and 7 delegations of EU member states participated. Lecturer/trainer at andragogic workshops as part of the "Promotion of Lifelong Learning" project, organized by the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education - 4th module "Communication and group dynamics in adult education", from 2016 to 2021. Member of the delegation of the Republic of Croatia in front of the Ministry of Science and Education that participated in the online mutual learning workshops "Implementing Upskilling Pathways Lab" intended for the implementation of the "Upskilling Pathways" program in EU member states. The workshops were organized by the European Commission in 2021, and 7 delegations from EU member states participated. Leader/lecturer at andragogic workshops in the area of six police departments for employees of the Ministry of the Interior, which were held according to the approved program with the consent of the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education, and organized by the Police Academy during 2022.
From 2010 until today, he successfully participated in the implementation of ten EU projects in the field of education in various positions in project teams. He worked as an external associate at the Polytechnic in Požega from 2016 to 2022, and from 2023 he is an external associate at the Faculty of Tourism and Rural Development in Požega.
In 2019, he started his own business when he established a company IGOR, Lifelong Learning Centre in Nature. Since 2015, he has been working as a educator on workshops in the fields of Social and Green Entrepreneurship, Rural Tourism/Ecotourism, Andragogical Competences and Personal Development. He has published ten scientific and professional papers so far and regularly participates in international and domestic scientific conferences. He is married, practices a healthy lifestyle and is constantly improving his competencies.
